Introduction
Sapp's Barbershop was opened by Kevin Sapp in 2017. The shop is located in Port Saint Lucie and has been there ever since. Sapp's Barbershop has been in business for 5 years and has become a staple in the community because it offers an high-end, community driven experience that is hard to find these days. The atmosphere at Sapp's is warm, inviting and friendly—and this makes clients feel comfortable enough to sit back and relax while they wait their turn for a haircut. Whether you're a tourist or local resident of Port Saint Lucie, this barber shop should definitely be added to your list of places to visit when passing through town!

Sapp's reason to open up his own barbershop
When you think about opening your own business, it's easy to get caught up in the idea of building something from scratch. You can imagine yourself waking up every morning and going to work in your dream office—or even better, your home office! You're free to create a company culture that reflects who you are as a person and what kind of impact you want to have on the world around you.
But when we asked Kevin how he decided on barbershop as his career path , it was clear that this career choice wasn't just about having fun or making money—it was about giving back. After all those years of being a barber himself, Sapp knew he wanted his own business because he enjoyed providing people with a service they need: looking good and feeling great!
As quoted by Kevin himself “I've always had a heart for serving people and being involved in the community, but the clarity of that vision became clearer as time went on.”
The moment led to cutting hair
Sapp's recalls not growing up in a barbershop. As a young boy, Sapp's would get his haircut from either his father or older cousin. These haircuts were not top-notch haircuts but were not the most appealing haircuts as Sapp's would coin the style classic “Baldy Macphaldi“
As time went on Kevin began cutting hair for his friends and family members. He kept this practice up through high school until he had enough experience to open a shop.
Nowadays, Kevin is still operating out of its original location on Main Street—which is now owned by Earl's son Jordan—and has been in business for over 50 years!
Some of the difficult times at Sapp's Barbershop
While you're sitting in the barber chair getting your cut. Kevin will likely share his most difficult time at Sapp's Barbershop. If you listen carefully and ask some questions, he'll tell you how he started this business with no money, didn't have family support, and got turned down by bankers who were afraid to lend him any money because they did not believe in him or his vision f

or a barbershop that focused on customer service.
Though these objections were brought up the did not stop Kevin, but he does remember a harsh time where he felt like he wanted to give up. He recalls about three years in he had many set back that was in the way of his growth. He thought “Even after everything I've been through and all the fun I've had so far and all the community events I'm like, maybe growing the barbershop numbers wise, as far as the team might not be the right move.”. With people bailing, and others not keeping their word Kevin being to become discouraged and lose trust but with all that has happen he was able to overcome these hardship and
The pivot he never knew he needed become his biggest game changer
Pivot is a word that gets thrown around a lot in business. It means to change or shift direction, and it's a good way to describe the pivot Sapp's Barbershop has made in its branding and marketing efforts. As far as business moves go, pivoting can be scary for some people because it involves leaving something behind that you've been working on for years (or even months) in order to try something new. But sometimes pivots like that are worth it—and not just because they're good for your bottom line.
The way I see it, there are two ways of thinking about how pivot works:
You can either think of pivot as an opportunity to get ahead of the curve by doing what everyone else will do eventually (like when everyone started using social media), or...
You can think about pivot as an opportunity to be different than everybody else—and those differences might make you stand out from other barbershops...
What are some future plans for the business?
The barbershop is already growing, and we're going to keep that momentum going. We are looking for new staff and patrons alike. Our goal is to bring you the best service and experience possible, so we have some exciting things in store for our customers! We're looking to bring in a new product line with our barbershop. This would include products like hair care, aftershaves, shampoos and conditioners
Clients appreciate the warm atmosphere at Sapp's Barbershop
